This InstaGrant is to fund five standing work stations for the kindergarten students at Grafflin. Using vertical surfaces during paper and pencil tasks greatly supports the use of an appropriate fine motor grasp. Standing at different times of the day is also beneficial to students with weak core muscles by helping them to activate these muscles throughout the day. Finally, this will also be useful to children who have trouble sitting for extended periods of time due to difficulty with self regulation. Creating positive and appropriate habits early on is the best way to ensure appropriate academic skills and a strong sense of self esteem around those skills.
